Regress to diapers2/21/2023 The learning carries on for months and years after the initial ‘training’ period and with that learning comes mistakes. There is a bit of an incorrect assumption in our society that once they’re done – that’s it, no more accidents, actually – that rarely happens. In my experience, most parents need to reset their expectations when it comes to what success when potty training looks like. Children have accidents for months and YEARS after potty training. Usually what’s needed with refusals is some emotional work – for you as a parent as much, if not more so, than fhe child! Depending on the child’s level of understanding/verbal ability I would also have a chat with them about growth mindset (not using that terminology obviously) and how proud you have been of them over the last week for trying to so hard, re-iterate accidents are OK, they are learning and they all happen, tell the child that you had them too. For instance, I would offer “underwear or no underwear (bare bummed/commando) today?”, but wouldn’t offer a nappy/diaper. You may also need to take the lead and take some of the control back from child. This is a huge moment in your child’s life, they deserve the time and attention needed to achieve it. If you can’t devote that time (ie booking holidays from work, ordering grocery shopping from the internet and taking some days off of your regular activities), then I’m of the opinion that you shouldn’t even start. Make sure you’re consistent, unfortunately – although it’s inconvenient, you really do need to devote time to potty training, ideally 3 days as a minimum. Stop the prompting, or dramatically reduce it.Ĥ. Could you have scared or upset them with your response to an accident?ģ. Really be very careful about your own attitude, are you positive? Or are you feeling stressed and negative and allowing your emotions to rub off on your child, especially when they have accidents. Here, meeting up with a friend with a potty trained child is a great idea too.Ģ. You need to keep up the excitement with lots of effort-based praise and sharing books, DVDs and conversations about potty training. If you are pretty sure that you started training when the child was physically and emotionally ready and have had some success in the previous days (and by some success I don’t mean no accidents – I would expect more accidents than in the potty), then keep going! With the proviso that:ġ. Inconsistency between home and somewhere else, or inconsistency in keeping them in underwear/bare-bottomed and swapping to nappies/diapers (e.g: when you’re away from home). This often results in children withholding, because they frankly get sick of being asked if they need to go!Ĥ. They become stressed or scared by accidents (or more specifically somebody’s reaction to an accident) and want to avoid it again,ģ. the excitement has worn off, the child has realised that actually there’s more work involved in potty training than they expected and it isn’t as fun as they imagined it would be (especially during the underwear and potty buying trips!).Ģ. Refusing to use the toilet or potty (and requesting nappies/diapers again) is common around three days after potty training begins, although it can (and does) happen at anytime within the first month. Usually this happens for a few common reasons:ġ. Let’s look at both of these, the reasons that are usually behind them and what parents can do about them. While there are a multitude of different potty training problems, the two most common – and definitely the ones I get the most questions about – are regressions (accidents after a period of being fully dry/clean for a good while) and refusals (refusing to use the potty or toilet, most commonly after 3-7 days of beginning training).

The court jester sir brockhurst2/21/2023 Princess Gwendolyn, however, refuses to marry Griswold, and declares that she will wed only for love, since her personal maid Griselda, who is also a witch, has predicted that a true lover will come to the castle to court her. The usurping King Roderick wishes his daughter, Princess Gwendolyn, to marry his neighbor, Sir Griswold of MacElwain, to enlist Griswold's aid against the band of rebels headed by the Black Fox. Kaye plays Hubert Hawkins, an ex- carnival entertainer who becomes minstrel to the Black Fox, a Robin Hood-type character ( Edward Ashley, who actually makes only a few minor appearances in the film). Set in medieval England, the plot nominally concerns the struggle to restore the rightful heir, a baby, to the throne after the King and all his family have been disposed of. In 2004, The Court Jester was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." In 2000, The Court Jester was listed at #98 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 Years. The film contains the famous exchange: "The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true!" (mainly between Kaye and Mildred Natwick as Griselda). Since then, it has become a television matinee favorite. The motion picture bombed at the box-office on its release, bringing in only $2.2 million in receipts the following winter and spring of 1956. Made for a cost of $4 million in the fall of 1955, it was the most expensive comedy film produced at the time. The film was released by Paramount Pictures in Technicolor and in the VistaVision widescreen format.ĭanny Kaye received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture Actor - Comedy/Musical. The movie was co-written, co-directed, and co-produced by Melvin Frank and Norman Panama. The Court Jester is a 1956 musical-comedy film starring Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns, Basil Rathbone, and Angela Lansbury. Ephemeral lake2/21/2023 The tuffaceous mudrock lithofacies of the Valley Springs Formation, interpreted in the context of the middle to lower regions of a piedmont alluvial system, most probably represents a complex of ephemeral lake and marsh environments on a low gradient alluvial plain. Root traces, fissuring, orientated clay skins lining pores and secondary surfaces, and mineralogical data are evidence of periodic exposure and desiccation. Numerous rounded mudstone or claystone clasts in a detrital mud matrix, together with abundant freshwater microfossils (megaspores, chrysophyte cysts, diatoms and sponge spicules), indicates that the lithofacies is a mostly epiclastic sedimentary deposit. Petrographic and X‐ray diffraction analyses of the composition, texture, fabric, mineralogy and organic content of an 8 m thick section of the tuffaceous mudrock lithofacies have provided evidence for an origin quite different from the earlier interpretations of this lithofacies as altered tuffs. The most prominent lithofacies in the formation is yellowish grey or greyish yellow, tuffaceous mudstone and claystone characterized by crude, commonly wavy layering or bedding, an irregular fracture, and common clay‐lined partings, fissures, and small branching tubules. The Valley Springs Formation consists largely of tuffaceous mudrock, tuffaceous sandstone, polymict conglomerate and rhyodacitic tuff. The password security on browsers isn’t that great – even if you are using a secure browser. This might seem like an ideal way to keep track of your passwords – but it’s actually a bad idea. Most web browsers offer to store your passwords for you. Why you shouldn’t store passwords in your browser This is very easy to do with a good password manager. So be smart and use a unique and strong password for every important account. Now, if you used the same password for all your accounts, and a hacker obtains this password in a data breach (or buys it from someone else), they basically have a master key to get access to your accounts. Many people have account passwords stolen, not from their own negligence, but from a data breach – and this is becoming increasingly common. Many of those records contain passwords in an unencrypted form. Magical words2/21/2023 Each year, corporations spend billions of dollars investing in advertising campaigns to promote products and target consumer demographics. 2Ĭommercial businesses are also aware of the hypnotic effects of language. As the linguist Noam Chomsky observes, words are the ultimate currency of political power and are manipulated to create a sense of tribal kindship within certain electoral factions. The use of rhetoric proved highly important during the UK’s ‘Brexit’ referendum in 2016, which saw both sides of the political spectrum using highly emotive language to divide voters on key issues. When Donald Trump was elected to the White House in 2016, the term ‘alternative facts’ became popular among the conservative right of politics to discredit what different news outlets were reporting on various scandals surrounding the new administration. During the US presidential campaign in 2008, Barack Obama employed a lexicon of ‘hope’ to instil a feeling of optimism in marginalised communities, and envision a more compassionate America. Politicians are particularly aware of the power that language holds over us. He writes: “Just as genes propagate themselves in the gene pool by leaping from body to body via sperms or eggs, so memes propagate themselves in the meme pool by leaping from brain to brain via a process which, in the broad sense can be called imitation.” 1 Concepts and ideas battle against each other for survival and those which are successful become populated across societies. The biologist and writer Richard Dawkins argues that words operate in a similar way to DNA. One only has to look at the countless memes that become ‘viral’ on the internet to acknowledge their inherently infectious quality. As the writer William Burroughs observed, certain words and phrases function in a similar way to a virus (see page 40) they spread from person to person until they become embedded in our collective consciousness. They have a reality independent of our own existence. It could be argued that words have a life of their own. Words can be used to control us, motivate us and inspire us, and yet many of us are unaware of their hidden esoteric power. When used benevolently, they can facilitate social, economic and political change. When used persuasively, they can seduce us into the empty promises of commercial advertising. When used imaginatively, they can create fantastic worlds of fantasy. When used destructively, they can wage war and create conflict. When used poetically, they can evoke the most primal of passions within us. The most prominent application of Lithium today is with electronics, specifically lithium-ion batteries. Another compound, lithium oxide, aids in the manufacturing of glass ceramics. Lighter vehicles can better maximize fuel efficiency. Since lithium is the least dense metal, it is very practical for creating lightweight vehicle components. Aluminum-lithium alloys find use in vehicle frames, such as in planes, trains, and automobiles. The most common alloy is the aluminum-lithium alloy, which has numerous industrial applications. Starting in 1949, salts such as lithium carbonate became an active ingredient in treatments for bipolar disorders as well as schizophrenia, with mixed results. Human nutrition does not require lithium as a trace mineral, but it has been used in various pharmaceutical applications over the last 70 years. A typical electron configuration for Li is 1s 22s 1. Its electronegativity reads as 0.98 on the Pauling scale. Like those sibling elements, Li has just one valence electron. It belongs to an elemental family known as alkali metals, which include sodium and potassium. Under hydrogen and after helium, Lithium, with the atomic symbol Li and an atomic number of 3, lies on group 1 of the periodic table.

Two more miracles, created by Bob’s lovely children, happen in the first season, and they each generate a packed-out restaurant for Bob. Twenty-six people end up dining at Bob’s Burgers that day thanks to Louise’s foul, yet interesting rumor. But, at the very end of the episode an “adventure eating club” rolls up to the restaurant and they all want to try the supposed human flesh burgers. This rumor comes to fruition thanks to Louise announcing the made up information in front of her class at school one afternoon. The first of these miracles, or surges, happens when word spreads throughout the city that Bob’s Burgers actually uses human meat from the crematorium located directly beside them. We figured out how many customers Bob’s Burgers receives for 28 days out of the month, but what about those three miracle days? And, as it turns out, Bob’s Burgers makes around $6,000 dollars in revenue each month. So we set out to determine exactly how painful Bob’s annual revenue would be if it were a real business. They’ve had how many grand re-openings at this point? It always seems to us like there’s just no way Bob could stay in business. Bob’s employees consist of his three children (Tina, Louise, and Gene) and his lovely wife Linda.Īnd this is where his problems originate.
